A man and woman died after an apparent murder-suicide Friday morning at a home on the east side of Indianapolis, police say.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to a home in the 6100 block of Nelson Place — near North Arlington Avenue and East 10th Street — before 10 a.m. Friday at the request of the family to do a wellness check. to be.
When the police arrived, officers and family members entered the house and found a man and a woman shot dead inside. Officer Genae Cook said the pair are believed to be in a relationship and the preliminary investigation indicates the shooting was a murder-suicide.
Police have not released the identities of those involved.
The Marion County Coroner’s Office later identified the slain woman as 29-year-old Latia Scott and ruled her death a homicide. The coroner identified the man as Dewayne Autman, 30, and ruled his death a suicide.
Friday’s Nelson Place killing is the sixth homicide in Indianapolis in the first week of 2022.
