When they arrived, they found a 39-year-old woman, 40-year-old man and six-year-old girl all with critical injuries.
Police allege Prabhal Sharma’s stab wounds were self-inflicted after he stabbed his wife and daughter to death.
The 40-year-old allegedly stabbed his wife Poonam and daughter Vanessa inside the house.
Poonam managed to run to her neighbour’s home, before Mr Sharma allegedly caught up to her and she died on her neighbour’s doorstep.
Young Vanessa was taken to hospital with critical injuries, but could not be saved.
The couple’s eldest daughter Angela was the lone survivor of the attack.
Homicide Squad Detective Inspector Dean Thomas said the youngster had been through a “terrible, traumatic incident”.
“It’s very difficult for her,” he said.
“She’s been through an absolutely terrible, traumatic incident … we want to make sure she’s as good as she can be.
“It’s really important she’s provided with the care and support that she needs to navigate her way through this.”
‘Full of blood’
Neighbours have been left haunted by the alleged horror attack.
One local told 7NEWS it sounded like “a man who kept screaming”.
“He told whoever it was that he loved the person, like I love you and then just screaming out of frustration,” she said.
Neighbour Ali Hussaini told 7NEWS all his mum could hear was a man yelling for help until the paramedics arrived.
“She was bleeding from her neck because she was holding it and at first my mum thought she might be wearing a red dress or something, but when she saw her holding her hand she realised it was blood and her whole feet were full of blood,” he said.
Mr Sharma was on Friday night in a critical condition in hospital, too ill to speak with Homicide Detectives.
Police say it is too early to state a the motive behind the alleged attack at this stage.
They will interview the man in coming days after he is cleared by medical staff.
Family told 7NEWS Mr Sharma had been dealing with mental health issues in the lead up to the tragedy.
Emergency services were called to the property just hours before the stabbing, assessing a person inside but clearing them a short time later.
