ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a possible murder-suicide attempt after a suspect shot a woman before fatally shooting himself Sunday afternoon in south St. Louis.
Police say it happened around 5 pm in the 7400 block of South Broadway Avenue in the Patch neighborhood.
Investigators say the suspect shot a 52-year-old woman in the neck, then shot and killed himself. The victim was conscious and breathing at the scene when officers arrived, but the suspect was not.
Police are working to gather information on what led up to the incident. Investigators have not yet released any names in the investigation.
The shooting is one of several investigated within St. Louis city limits in a 24-hour span that ended with four deaths and nine people shot.
