Update: Rockford man charged after hours-long stand-off with Rockford Police

UPDATE: ROCKFORD (WREX) — The Rockford Police Department announces charges in Friday’s stand-off.

Rockford Police say 28-year-old Angel Haisler of Rockford is charged with Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon as well as Reckless Discharge.

Detectives with RPD searched the home in the 3500 block of Harrison Ave. and found two handguns.

Rockford Police ask anyone with information on Friday morning’s stand-off to call them at (815) 966-2900 or through Crime Stoppers at (815) 963-7867.


UPDATE: ROCKFORD (WREX) — Two people are in police custody after a stand-off with police.

Rockford Police Chief Carla Redd said a 28-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman are in police custody and being interviewed by police.

Chief Redd says officers responded to to an apartment in the 3500 block of Harrison Ave. just before midnight for reports of shots being fired after a domestic dispute inside of an apartment complex.

Chief Redd said despite shots being fired, there were no shooting victims from the incident.

It took police roughly five hours to establish communication with people inside, according to Chief Redd. Both the man and woman ended up leaving the apartment on their own just before 7 a.m.

Chief Redd says they’re glad everyone inside the apartment is OK.

“We want to make sure everyone involved is safe,” Chief Redd said.

No charges have been announced at this time. Traffic on Harrison Ave. is now open.


UPDATE: After an hours long standoff, Rockford Police say the barricaded man is now in custody.

Details surrounding the standoff are still limited, but RPD is holding a press briefing at 8 a.m. Friday.
